The portal is open. Seek the truth and learn...
Screen printing is "ink deposited on fabric or paper", right? Simple enough.
By learning the trade, experimenting, and using new techniques we've been able to make some pretty cool stuff happen. If you can imagine it, there's a good chance of us being able to create it.
Oh, but the process by which all that happens is mysterious! It's time consuming, messy, potentially expensive, and always facing numerous legal boundaries.
We've compiled a list of questions and answers to help settle some pretty sticky situations, and also put to bed some potential confusion. We'll try to cover some butts here too, yours AND ours.
Although not every scenario is covered here, rest assured Crimson Tees will have the final word on all matters. Click each question to reveal the answer.
The callers are lined up. Caller number one, what is your question?...
Q. I work for a reputable "non-profit" organization and they would like Crimson Tees to provide custom screen printed apparel at no cost to them. They say Crimson Tees can list it as a donation and deduct it from taxes. Will you do that?
A. No. Crimson Tees is a "for-profit" company. We have directed our own financial contributions toward organizations that provide support services that are universally unbiased. Moving forward, we feel we have eliminated possible "favoritism" toward any one organization by not offering free or "self imposed" tax deductible sales. If you would like to give away your Crimson Tees custom screen printed apparel for free, we suggest you seek financial contribution support to pay for the apparel project, and then list those contributions as deductible on your own tax forms. See your CPA for complete information. Of course, you may file your legitimate tax-exempt documentation or resale license with us as well.
Q. Can I use Copyrighted or Licensed Material?
We do not knowingly reproduce copyrighted material and can not accept any liability for copyright infringement for reproducing your order. You are responsible to make sure any of your artwork does not infringe upon others' property. Please note that customers will be responsible to obtain proper permission for reproduction of logos, trademarks and copyright material.
Q. I purchased t-shirts from you in the past. The price for the shirts themselves fluctuates. How come?
A. Most t-shirts are constructed using cotton. As a commodity, cotton market prices change on a daily basis and that is reflected in the price to the end user. Fortunately, the price change is usually just a few cents up or down.
Q. Can I buy blank t-shirts from Crimson Tees?
A. Yes.
Q. Can I supply my own apparel to be custom screen printed?
A. Yes, however please read the next answer for most self-supplied apparel jobs.
Q. I am supplying my own apparel to be custom screen printed by Crimson Tees. Why are the per-item print charges significantly increased?
A. Crimson Tees' profit structure is based on the sale of apparel sold through Crimson Tees, even before anything is printed onto them. When you supply your own apparel, the per-item print charge is increased by as much as 30% to 50%. We encourage you to purchase your apparel from Crimson Tees, instead of supplying it yourself.
Q. I see that Crimson Tees provides a large selection of ink colors. Can I order a specific color instead?
A. Yes. Crimson Tees provides a large selection of stock ink colors, at no charge. You may also order a specific Pantone color. Choose a color from our Pantone PMS color swatches, and pay the additional PMS color charge. PMS ink colors come in one pint size. Once purchased we will retain the ink for you, and for the current project only. When the ink runs out, you will be required to purchase another pint.
Q. I think you're "nickel and diming" me to death. What am I paying for, exactly?
A. There's usually just 3 charges for a t-shirt order. The garment itself, Screen set-up, and Printing. Each of these can vary greatly depending on quantity. For example, the cost of a single garment or multiple garments, Garment type, Thread density/weight and color of the garment, Garment size from youth small up to 5XL Adult, A 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6-color design, multiple sizes or locations of designs, One side or two sides, even whether you provide a usable design or have one made or modified for you. To reduce the overall cost of a screen printing project you should try to: buy multiples of the same garment that are neutral to light in color that are medium to low thread weight, limit the colors in the design to 1 or 2, on one side, and provide your own high resolution camera ready artwork or transparencies for each color in the design. Of course some of those choices may seem restrictive, so we'll work with you to achieve a good result within your budget.
